Applying the Principles of Midlands Charter to Improve Well-being of Psychiatry Higher Trainee in BSMHFT

Aims The Midlands’ Charter outlines commitment to prioritise the restoration of postgraduate medical education and training impacted during COVID-19 pandemic . support provided must be accessible, inclusive, culturally sensitive, with a greater understanding current barriers that trainees face achieve this goal. Methods We designed an anonymous electronic survey, where multiple choice questions Likert scales were used quantify respondents’ levels agreement range statements. Questions selected capture baseline characteristic, rating score, access support, barriers, suggestion improvement. survey was open for one month distributed all working BSMHFT. Results identified response rate 81%. One main themes came up repeatedly are struggling clinical workload sometimes overspilled their personal time, which means family time is affected. More than half reported they do not know how trust. While result split when asked if have concern whilst Trainees said there very little given attend any nonrelated work engagement made grievance on difficulty accessing occupational health services. Conclusion Since inception several recommendations trialled. include raising awareness among clinicals supervisors, video uploaded Trust intranet outlining tips becoming good supervisor.
